Welcome to the Class of 2014!

By: Paula Steisel Goldfarb, Executive Director of MBA and Executive MBA Admissions and Financial Aid

The MBA Admissions and Financial Aid Office is thrilled to welcome to campus one of the most diverse and accomplished classes. Just one year ago, many of you were busy gathering your first impressions of NYU Stern and laying the foundation for your applications by visiting us on campus or attending Stern admissions events around the world. At that time, you were just beginning to understand the opportunities of a Stern MBA. Now, after months of hard work during the application process, we hope you enjoyed LAUNCH as members of the Stern Class of 2014. On behalf of the MBA Admissions and Financial Aid Office, we look forward to growing with you over the next two years, and we are excited to see where your Stern journey will take you. Between Pre-View Weekend and LAUNCH, you have no doubt made many new friends at Stern. Here are a few interesting facts about the Class of 2014. Have you met the classmate who… • Crafted a social media campaign (#saveafterschool) that successfully raised $12.2 million for over 150 after school programs? • Founded Hope4Girls Africa, an organization that runs camps and after school programs for girls in Nigeria? • Is a US Tennis Association nationally- ranked tennis player? • Earned multiple military service awards, including a National Defense Service Medal? • Has had photos published in National Geographic Traveler? • Founded GRAFFI-T Clothing, a clothing retailer that uses local talents (in Edmonton, Canada) to create unique apparel items? • Has participated in two World Gymnaestradas (Portugal '03 and Austria '07), the largest general gymnastics exhibition? • Is an avid artist who volunteers color therapy to children with mental disabilities? • Is a flamenco dancer and choreographer? These are just a few of the accomplishments that we hope will inspire you to get to know your classmates, both inside and outside of the classroom. We encourage you to make the most of your time at Stern by engaging with each other and forging lasting relationships. In the meantime, MBA Admissions will be busy recruiting the Class of 2015. We believe you are our best ambassadors, so please help us spread the word about everything that Stern has to offer! Refer to our MBA Admissions fall presentation schedule and invite your f riends, colleagues and family members to learn more about Stern at one of our upcoming admissions presentations. We encourage you all to consider joining the Stern Torch Committee, which will give you the opportunity to assist us in the recruiting process by hosting prospective students on campus, taking applicants to lunch (on us!) and helping organize Pre- View, our admitted student weekend in April. Look out for an email f rom MBA Admissions later this fall with more information on applying. We wish you a fantastic first year and again, welcome to NYU Stern!
