Highlights from NYU Stern media coverage in September included a front page story in The Wall Street Journal, which highlighted the separate research of Professors David Yermack and Daniel Wolfenzon, finding correlations between a company's success and its CEO's personal life. Professor Arun Sundararajan co-authored an opinion piece in India's leading business newspaper, The Economic Times, arguing that government intervention, in the form of company subsidies, is needed to create the third generation of mobile phone standards and technology (3G) in India. Professor Lawrence White was featured in streaming video on WSJ.com, Barrons.com and Marketwatch.com, talking about his recent testimony at a Senate hearing on the role of credit rating agencies in the subprime shake-up. On ABC News, Professor Peter Golder talked about the importance of word-of-mouth advertising, and in the Financial Times, Professor Nicholas Economides analyzed the potential fallout for Microsoft after the European Union Appeals Court upheld its 2004 ruling against the company. NYU Stern was also recognized this month for its leadership in social entrepreneurship in Fortune Small Business.
