Hello Fellow Sternies!

Well, as you all know it's the beginning of a new year here at Stern and therefore a time to look forward to what's in store for 2007.

To all you part-timers out there, please enjoy your winter intensives while they last, and realize that you may not have a chance to be so swamped with work in so short a period of time until August, when late summer intensives begin.

So here are a few highlights of things that we can look forward to in 2007:

The LPDP pilot program launched successfully last year and we look forward to continued success in 2007. As most of you know, this is the career services initiative spearheaded by some very dedicated part-time students. Look for more information on 2007 activities coming soon (February) to an e-mail inbox near you, or in your beloved Oppy newspaper.

The PTLF social calendar is in full swing. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I will tell you that this online calendar indicates where to go on what night of the week to socialize with your classmates after class. I encourage you to check it out if you have not already. There's a link to it on the PTLF website (find it through Sternlinks or just google "PTLF" and "Stern"). However I urge you to not share this information with the media or paparazzi. There have been problems in the past with A-list celebrities crashing our Stern happy hour parties, and then it gets completely out of hand. Like last November when Nicky Hilton showed up with her entourage, and I had to politely ask her to leave. It just makes it an uncomfortable situation for everybody so please let's just keep these events amongst ourselves, the Stern community and our close friends and loved ones.

The Back to School party for all of Stern takes place on Thursday evening, January 25 at Libation on Ludlow in the Lower East Side. Hopefully you get this in time to rally to this event because it's going to be big. Everyone was talking about it at the Golden Globe after-parties. It starts just after Beer Blast ends, around 10 pm, and there will be an open bar from 11-12.

Core Group Games will continue into the spring with two events - Sneak Preview: One of them may feature a full-time / part-time New York City scavenger hunt. Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, you may want to try to hone your scavenger hunting skills by stealing hubcaps or street signs. But please do so as far way from the NYU area, so as to keep our community beautiful and crime-free.

To all you new Spring 2007 students, welcome to Stern! If you did not get a chance to visit all of the tables at club expo during pre-term, and/or if you are looking for ways to get involved in clubs or student government, or just about anything, please fell free to email me at pjv227.

See you all around school!
