This week I am pleased to announce the Core Group Games schedule for Fall 2006. As most of you know, Core Group Games are held four times per year, twice per semester. These events are designed to bring the various core groups together in a fun, and slightly competitive social environment. The games usually involve a sport (e.g. bowling), a game (e.g. poker), or a competition (e.g. scavenger hunt). PTLF Events Director extraordinaire Lisa Stringer (Red Spring 2006) coordinates these events. Last year's Core Group Games were very successful, despite a swirl of controversy surrounding the results of the scavenger hunt event. Very few of us even remember the exact details of the controversy, despite weeks of grueling cross-examination and testimony heard at the subsequent federal trial. In the end, all organizers of the event were cleared of any wrongdoing, yet, to this day we still hear rumblings of controversy.
Now that the death threats from last year's games have finally slowed to a trickle, I am pleased to announce the line up for the Fall Core Group Games:
Saturday October 28 - Volleyball
Saturday November 11 - Bowling
Mark those dates down on your calendar and come out to represent your core group against the others. This year, we ask that you please refrain from wearing your core group colors, so we do not have a repeat of last year's gangland -style violence which erupted when a blue group member donned a yellow t-shirt and taunted the yellow core group leader by throwing a bowling ball at him.
The winning core group color for the year will receive $1,000 to spend as a group, at their discretion. So put the word out among your group, find that guy or girl who played professional beach volleyball way back when, and recruit him or her to come out and compete for the money and the bragging rights.
Which brings us to this issue's top ten list:

If you have any question or if you want to help out with organizing these events, please contact me pjv227@stern.nyu.edu or Lisa Stringer lms483@stern.nyu.edu. Or if you still want to discuss last year's results, I welcome the opportunity to revisit that situation.
Let the Games begin!
